BEAU DUNN RELEASES COVID-19-INSPIRED SERIES PRESENTED BY EBAY AND PLASTIC GALLERY
The latest addition of Beau Dunn’s Next Generation series launches on September 2nd in collaboration with eBay for Charity. Presented by Plastic Gallery, a portion of all proceeds will benefit UNICEF USA’s COVID-relief efforts. Available exclusively through eBay for Charity, Beau Dunn’s neon artworks are available in two sizes and range in price from $20,000 - $22,000. Further, for the first time ever, collectors can purchase one of 99 prints that depict the neon signs, available in size 24”x18” and priced at $700.
Dunn’s Next Generation series features the artist’s signature style of cultural commentary and is captured by it’s vibrant color, mixed-media and neon work. The attractive, glowing glass tubes have long been a symbol of advertising, luxury, and glamour, and for Dunn, the material’s historic significance helps better convey her perspectives on social agendas and contemporary existence. The works - which read NEED MONEY FOR FACE MASKS, NEED MONEY FOR HAND SANITIZER and NEED MONEY FOR TOILET PAPER - offer an intentional look at what is considered a luxury in this snapshot of time and the pressures consumers face during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of the partnership, Dunn said, “With this drastic world shift I took some time to reflect on my Next Generation series, as I never thought I would see a day where essentials like toilet paper and hand sanitizer were the new luxury items. The latest addition to my neon series represents this moment in history -- a reflection on what is needed to survive in our current day. As part of this exclusive art collaboration, I will be supporting UNICEF USA and giving a portion of all art sales
directly back to those in need during the COVID-19 crisis. I am honored that through my art, I have the opportunity to give back to UNICEF USA alongside eBay, and help provide front-line responders and families in need with resources to keep children healthy and safe during the pandemic.”
UNICEF works in more than 190 countries providing health care and immunizations, safe water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more to the world’s most vulnerable children. Only UNICEF has the trust, experience and scale to impact the lives of millions of children, their families and communities around the world. Since the beginning of the pandemic, UNICEF has: Shipped more than 10.9 million gloves, 12.1 million surgical masks, 3.5 million N95 respirators, 1.1 million gowns, 153,637 goggles, 625,999 face shields, 985 oxygen concentrators and 505,628 diagnostics tests in support of 109 countries as they respond to the pandemic. Provided 224 million children with distance/at-home based learning support as 1.29 billion children in 186 countries.”
Dunn’s works are the latest to join eBay’s robust selection of art, from paintings and installations to prints and more. The marketplace has attracted a cohort of the world’s most renowned artists, not only for its ability to bring art to the masses, but also its dedication to partnering, selling and collaborating with a purpose in the form of sales for charity.
